A Cottage in the Woods

My contribution to the Brony Thank You Fund 2017 calendar. I was asked to provide a painting in the style of a famous painter; I chose Bob Ross. Mr. Ross has been an inspiration to me ever since I was a wee lad watching him on public television. As a boy, I begged my mother to get me a paint set so I could paint along with Bob. My ten year old self didn't do very well, of course, but it was one of the many steps I had to take on my journey as an artist.

Fluttershy's cottage is nestled into a Ross-esque landscape full of happy little trees. Trying to mimic him using digital tools was quite a challenge, as his wet-on-wet technique is meant to make fast oil painting easy. I have to admit that it was one of the less stressful projects I've ever done, since the days of me struggling to paint along with Bob have faded away. What a difference twenty-odd years makes!
